The Institute explores the relationship of nature and music through land based recording projects, collaborations between ecologists and musicians, and listening workshops for the public. NMI helps people feel more connected to the natural environment, and is dedicated to creating music that reflects the beauty and diversity of the Earth.
I've been singing with The Elements for 3 years(Briony Greenhill, Green Huse, Christopher Kuntsch, and Sam Rogers). We are a vocal improvisation ensemble, creating music of the moment. I think collaborative leadership is the way of the future, and this group has been an incredible training ground. And it's such a joy to create beautiful music with others. Here's a track from our first CD, "Listen." You can buy it here
I love learning about collaborative leadership and the Presencing Institute provides a great model. From their website, "The Presencing Institute(PI) is an awareness-based action-research community that creates social technologies, builds capacities, and generates holding spaces for profound societal renewal. The word Presencing means to sense, tune in, and act from one's highest future potential-the future that depends on us to bring it into being."
Rhiannon introduced me to the wild and wonderful world of collaborative vocal improvisation. She is a master of transformation, both in her singing and teaching. One of the most fearless, tender hearted, and generous women I have ever met.
